Golf in Menorca

It may be the smallest of the Balearic Islands, but Menorca still has a huge golfing appeal – and that’s in spite of the fact it only has one 18-hole golf course!
Golf Son Parc, located just a couple of hundred metres from the award-winning Son Parc beach on the north cost of the island, is a championship quality course which is ideal for beginners and experienced golfers alike.

Popular all-year round with holidaymakers, the course is both challenging and picturesque. It is surrounded by wooded hills and a protected wet zone with a rich variety of bird life, with spectacular views towards Monte Toro, Menorca 's highest peak, dominating the horizon.

The course was originally a nine-hole tract which was extended to 14 holes in 2003. Work on the last four holes began in 2005 and the course is now complete and ready to be played as an 18-hole cracker.

All of the extension work was undertaken by Dave Thomas Golf Ltd. Thomas, an ex Ryder Cup-player, has designed many of the world’s most famous golf courses, including The Belfry courses and San Roque on the Costa del Sol, the home of the European Tour School Final Qualifying.

With a CV like that, Son Parc could hardly have asked for a more illustrious figure to lay out the course extension and the end result is every bit as scintillating and as satisfying as you would expect from a Thomas design.

One of the most attractive features of the course, and certainly one of the most memorable, is the flock of peacocks who live just behind the third green. They add an extra touch of colour to any round and make playing here such a unique and enjoyable experience.

The course is also characterised by a number of beautiful rock and floral features that make it a real treat for the eyes whilst the fine array of hazards make playing here with anything less than your ‘A Game’ exceptionally inadvisable!

So, if a relaxing break in the beautiful, tranquil, sun-kissed Mediterranean island of Menorca is high on your agenda, then make sure you pack your golf clubs and have a go at Golf Son Parc. It’ll be well worth it, let us assure you!
