Southerndown is an undulating links course with the bracken and gorse as its primary defences. Founded in 1905, the course has been touched by some of the most respected golf course architects in the world, and it shows.
Willie Fernie designed the original course with later modifications coming from the respected Herbert Fowler and then Willie Park. And it doesn't stop there. The great Harry Colt decided to have his way with Southerndown's gorse-lined fairways and then came the finishing touches from Donald Steel.
