A study conducted by a golf course review website and community has revealed that Wales offers the best value-for-money green fees in Europe.
Leadingcourses.com, which provides golfers with up-to-date information on green fees and courses and has the mission of being the most complete golfing review directory on the internet, created a ‘Bang for your Buck' index, which is calculated by dividing the average rating its readers have given each course on its website by the average green fee rates.
That value is then multiplied by 40 to get a scale from one to ten. Topping that index was Wales, with an average green fee of €34 and course rating of 7.9. It narrowly edged out Northern Ireland, which also had an average green fee of €34 but a course rating of 7.7.
The green fees of Wales and Northern Ireland were €20 cheaper than the European average of €54.
