Nefyn opts for Toro to be 'more green'

Nefyn Golf Club in North Wales has chosen Toro in order to become more eco-friendly and battle challenging weather conditions.

With the course stretched out over more than 200 acres and having to deal with the elements of the Welsh coast, Toro has been drafted in to improve the maintenance of the course.

Richard Lloyd Jones, head greenkeeper at Nefyn, feels that the equipment provided by Toro will improve golf for all concerned.

"We're making a concerted effort to be more green," said Jones. "We've been running the risk of hydraulic leaks with the old machines, having had four or five over the last couple of years. We're eliminating that risk with Toro."

The Groundmaster 4500-D, a ‘big old beast of a machine' according to Jones, is being brought in by the club along with three other machines, including a Toro Reelmaster 5010-H.

"We've got both ends of the spectrum covered with these two machines," Jones added. "We're very pleased with their performance so far as they're coping with the size of the course and the demands we place on them with ease.

"We make our choices based on what will bring the best results to the course, and we're delighted to have Toro back here."
